Calm In Connection
Introduction to inner child model of working.
Nancy Maillie
Welcome to Minds In Sync. I’m Nancy, Im a Therapeutic Counsellor with 26 years experience specialising in Attachment and Trauma. I am also trained in EMDR and DBT and Inner Child Recovery. I work with an integrative approach led by what each client or group need.
Calm in connection begins with a simple truth: we are born reaching for another human being. But for many of us, life shapes a different story. Trauma, stress, neurodivergence, or early uncertainty can teach the brain to listen for danger more than safety.
Inside every one of us, two systems are always in motion: the social engagement system inviting us into relationship, and the defence system protecting us when the world feels sharp.
We carry the whispers of our earliest attachments into adulthood, often without knowing they’re still shaping how we relate, respond, and protect ourselves.
Calm in Connection exists to bring gentle understanding to these patterns. We help you recognise what your nervous system is trying to say, offering language for experiences that were once silent.
Whether you are navigating your own journey, or you walk alongside others as a parent, carer, or practitioner—this work is about seeing the story beneath the behaviour, the need beneath the reaction, and the human beneath the defence.
Healing doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in calm, attuned, human connection. If you are ready to learn how to meet yourself with more compassion and others with steady presence, here is what you can do next.
